Gospel legend, Inez Andrews, a member of the 1950’s pioneering Gospel group, The Caravans has gone home to be with the angels.  Her death was confirmed December 19th by Malaco Records’ Gospel Music Division, Mr. D A Johnson.

Best known as the powerful contralto who lifted souls higher on hits by The Caravans like “I’m Not Tired Yet,” and  the song that became her signature song, “Mary Don’t You Weep,” she also had success with her own hits, including “Lord Don’t Move The Mountain.”   As a girl growing up in St. Louis, I remember my father buying me the latter and how I used to sing it at home in my room over and over again until my brothers would tell me to cut out all of that racket.

Inez Andrews was a mother who raised 7 children and dedicated Christian who served God with her gift of song.  She will be missed around the world.
