Sony Pictures’ Affirm Films and Provident Films reveal the official trailer from faith based filmmakers the Kendrick Brother’s newest theatrical release, THE FORGE. The ninth film from faith-based filmmakers the Kendrick Brothers, THE FORGE arrives exclusively in theaters nationwide on August 23rd.
Filmed in the Kendrick Brothers’ hometown Albany, GA, THE FORGE is a bold, inspirational drama about the power of mentorship that takes place in the same cinematic, heart warming world as their 2015 block buster film, WAR ROOM which claimed the #1 spot on the North American box office charts.
The cast of THE FORGE includes some familiar faces from faith based movies, such as Priscilla Shirer (WAR ROOM), Cameron Arnett (OVERCOMER), Karen Abercrombie (WAR ROOM) and newcomer Aspen Kennedy. THE FORGE also stars T.C. Stallings (WAR ROOM), BJ Arnett, Ken Bevel (COURAGEOUS), former NFL star Benjamin Watson, Jonathan Evans, Jerry Shirer and Tommy Woodard (FAMILY CAMP). “We made this film to inspire, challenge and motivate viewers to follow Jesus wholeheartedly,” says director Alex Kendrick. “Our hope is that audiences around the world will recognize the pivotal role that Godly mentorship plays in shaping the next generation.
THE FORGE tells the story of 19 year old Isaiah Wright, played by newcomer Aspen Kennedy, a 19 year old basketball and video games lover. One year after graduating high school we find him at odds with his mother Cynthia (Priscilla Shirer) because he still has no job, no plans, and no idea what it takes to be a man. Cynthia finally gives Isaiah an ultimatum to get his life together or remove himself from her house. Through peer pressure and his mom’s relentless push, Isaiah breaks down and gets a real job at Moore Fitness. He meets the owner Mr. Moore who has a powerful him on his life personally. Through prayer and guidance from his new mentor, Isaiah is forced to deal with his past, and ends up discovering God has a greater purpose for his life.
