Producers Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin have joined forces for their first-ever faith-based film collaboration, Ruth & Boaz. The highly anticipated romantic drama streams worldwide on Netflix beginning September 26.
A modern-day retelling of one of the Bible’s most beloved love stories, the film stars Tyler Lepley as Boaz, Serayah as Ruth, and legendary actress Phylicia Rashad as Naomi. The story follows Ruth (Serayah), a gifted singer who leaves behind her promising music career in Atlanta after a devastating tragedy. In this unexpected new chapter of her life, Ruth also finds herself drawn to Boaz (Lepley), the owner of a local vineyard, whose kindness and integrity change the course of her journey.
Directed by Alanna Brown and written by Michael Elliot and Cory Tynan, Ruth & Boaz blends timeless biblical themes with a contemporary setting. The cast also features music industry icons Jermaine Dupri and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, along with veteran actor Gregory Alan Williams. Edmonds produced the theme song in the movie.
