The 33rd Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards premieres Friday, March 30 at 9 p.m. ET/8p.m. CT on TV One. Hosted by Kirk Franklin, stars from Gospel and Hollywood came out to the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada to celebrate Gospel’s best and the music that inspires lives at the March 24 TV taping of the Central City Productions’ star-studded event.
Top Stellar Awards Winners that night were JJ Hairston with six awards; Tasha Cobbs Leonard and Travis Greene, each winning four awards; and Anthony Brown who nabbed two awards.
The telecast of the “epic night of Gospel” features a wow-moment opening with a reunion performance by platinum selling duo Mary Mary, real-life sisters Erica and Tina Campbell. Another surprising, yet exciting performance was Snoop Dogg, that’s right Snoop Dogg, singing music from his chart topping first ever Gospel album Bible Of Love. The late great Edwin Hawkins was honored with an all-star tribute. His sister Lynette Hawkins accepted The Edwin Hawkins Icon Award in his honor.
Other inspiring performances on the Stellar Awards 2018 include Kierra Sheard, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Travis Greene, Anthony Brown, JJ Hairston, Tori Kelly, Koryn Hawthorne, Jonathan McReynolds, Ricky Dillard, Todd Dulaney, Deitrick Haddon, Canton Jones, KeKe Wyatt, Le’Andria Johnson and Tasha Page Lockhart.

Mann (It’s A Mann’s World) and Anika Noni Rose (The Quad)
CEO of Central City Productions, Stellar Awards Producers, Don Jackson bestowed special honors to Gospel icons and legends who have greatly contributed to the genre. Tamela Mann received the James Cleveland Lifetime Achievement Award. The legendary Rev. Milton Biggham was awarded The Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones Legends Award. Also, there were new inductees to the Stellar Honors Hall of Fame, they include artists/producers Kurt Carr, Ben Tankard and President of the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses, Dr. Marabeth Gentry.
