There’s a new show that you must check out. It’s one the entire family can watch without you having to send the kids out of the room. The family entertainment sitcom is, “The Soul Man” starring Cedric The Entertainer and Niecy Nash. It airs Wednesdays, 10 p.m. EST/PST on TV Land.
About “The Soul Man”
“The Soul Man” is a sitcom centered around Las Vegas R&B superstar-turned-minister Reverend Boyce “The Voice” Ballentine (Cedric The Entertainer), who reluctantly relocates at the height of his musical stardom to his hometown, St. Louis with his wife, Lolli (Niecy Nash), and daughter, Lyric (Jazz Raycole), to take over his father’s church. But the family is not thrilled about giving up their fabulous life in Las Vegas to move to St. Louis. In real life, both Niecy Nash and Cedric the Entertainment have actually lived in St. Louis in their younger years.
“The Soul Man” also stars John Beasley (“Everwood”) as Boyce’s father Barton, and Wesley Johnathan (“What I Like About You”) as his brother, Stamps. “The Soul Man” is a spin-off of TV Land’s hit sitcom “Hot in Cleveland.”
The show is executive produced by Cedric “The Entertainer,” Suzanne Martin (“Hot in Cleveland”), Eric Rhone, Emmy® Award-winner Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner of Hazy Mills Productions. Keith Cox and Larry W. Jones are executive producers for TV Land. Phoef Sutton (“Cheers”) is the show runner and the director is Stan Lathan (“The Steve Harvey Show”). The series is filmed in front of a live studio audience.
