Veteran Hollywood producer, Debra Martin Chase, has a list of movies she’s produced for general audiences that have cashed$ in since the 1990’s, including The Princess Diaries I & II , The Sisterhood of The Travelling Pants, Just Wright and made for TV movie, Cinderalla starring Brandy. What you may not know is that she worked on a number of these movies with her late friend, Whitney Houston’s production company, Brown House Productions. Chase and Houston’s final project was the 2012 re-make of the 1976 classic, Sparkle, which is in theaters this weekend. The picture stars Jordin Sparks, Whitney Houston, Derek Luke, Mike Epps, Carmen Ejogo, Tika Sumpter, Omari Hardwick, CeeLo Green and Terrence J.
At a recent round table discussion in Hollywood where we got up close and personal with the case and producer’s of Sparkle Debra Martin Chase came in and was charming and elegant. She shares how the movie almost fell apart.
