R and B Divas – Doing It Big on TV 1

By Lin. Woods – Family Entertainment Writer/Blogger

Tonight I tuned into the premiere of TV 1’s reality TV show, R&B Divas.  And I have to admit, I actually liked it.  Co-executive produced by R&B songstress and cast member, Faith Evans, it also stars Nicci Gilbert, Monifah Carter, Syleena Johnson and Keke Wyatt.

The reality TV series takes a look into the private lives and careers of these ladies who might have crossed your mind from time to time when you heard some of their Gold and Platinum hits on the radio or checked them out on YouTube – which made you say to yourself, “I wonder what happened to her?”   Well, for five  of those R&B divas, you have the answer in their new show.

What I like most about R&B Divas is that it has elements of  faith, family, grit and determination mixed in with a dash of hope.  Make no mistake, there is drama, but it’s not like those  mud-slinging, drink throwing, cat fighting dramas you’ve seen on other reality shows – who shall remain nameless – that sacrifice meaning full, life-lesson content for demeaning acts that simply insult me as an African American woman.  I know I can get an Amen on that!

Any-who, I digress.  Through its cast, R&B Divas encourages one to believe in yourself, your talents and never give up, no matter what happens…just hold on to your faith and keep it moving.

Tune into R&B Divas, Monday, 10p.m. Eastern/9p.m. Central on TV 1.
