If you haven’t seen the re-make of  the movie SPARKLE, hurry up and get to the theater to see this family entertainment picture.  The picture stars Jordin Sparks, Whitney Houston (also an Executive Producer), Derek Luke, Mike Epps, Carmen Ejogo, Tika Sumpter, Omari Hardwick, CeeLo Green and Terrence J.  Directed by Salim Akil, the screenplay was written by Salim’s wife, Mara Brock Akil.  It was produced by Debra Martin Chase, T.D. Filmed in Detroit with the “Motown Sound” as the backdrop and filled with rich soul-ful sounds of R&B, the 2012 Sparkle film remains true to the 1976 original film in that it’s a story about family, faith, love and going after your dreams.

Actor/Comedian Mike Epps plays comedian and rising star “Satin,” a guy with a hot temper who abuses his girlfriend (Carmen Ejogo  “Sister”).  Here  Mike Epps talks about the abuse he witnessed growing up that helped him get into character, and what it was like working with Whitney Houston.  Click below to listen.
