Hollywood Divas returns to TV One for season three on July 6. Hollywood Divas’ alumna cast Lisa Wu, Paula Jai Parker, Golden Brooks and Countess Vaughn are joined by new cast member, Malika Haqq (Keeping Up With The Kardashians, ATL). During our interview, the Hollywood Divas seemed to have warmly welcomed Haqq into their fold of sister-friends and career struggles. Elise Neal, who was a part of the original cast, is not on board this season and won’t be returning, according to Carlos King, the show’s executive producer.
King also said the original TV One – one hour series will have its highs and lows, and of course, drama. He added, “You will see actors booking gigs, auditioning, meeting with managers…we’re back to focusing on the art….we’re getting back to our roots…diving into the world of acting.”
Robyn Greene Arrington, VP of Original Programming and Production, TV One said Hollywood Divas is not just another drama filled reality show. “We wanted to show accomplished woman…not divas acting badly,” stated Greene-Arrington.
What can we expect to see the ladies go through on season three of Hollywood Divas? Cast member Lisa Wu said, “I’m dating a bit…so you’ll see my love life.” Veteran actress/singer Countess Vaughn has gone through a transformation since last season and lost a lot of weight. She revealed, “Basically, I’m just discovering my own voice…I’m getting back to singing…Paula and I…we’ve gotten to another level of our friendship.” Malika Haqq is excited to be a part of the show. She stated, “I’m getting to know a group of women who are more seasoned in life than me…it’s been a really great experience…and the audience is gonna get a lot out of season three.”
